CACAO & BANANA MILKSHAKE

As a home-cooking enthusiast, I tend to avoid eating out, and when I am eating out, I definitely try to go to authentic restaurants and avoid chain-restaurants. However, Ed’s Easy Diner is one place I keep going back to for the lovely Ed’s Shakes. However, they are definitely a treat as they’re filled with sugar. Here’s a recipe that will give you the same taste, but much less regret. 


Cooks in 5 minutes
Serves 1


INGREDIENTS

Fruit
1 ripe banana (frozen overnight)

Other
150ml almond milk / dairy milk
2 tsp raw cacao powder / cocoa
1 tsp maple syrup (optional)


METHOD

Cut the banana into small pieces and freeze them overnight. Add into your blender along with the milk and cacao powder. The frozen banana replaces the ice-cream in Ed’s Shakes. The cacao powder is made by cold-pressing unroasted cocoa beans. The process keeps the living enzymes in the cocoa and removes the fat (cacao butter). Cocoa powder is raw cacao that’s been roasted at high temperatures that kill the enzymes. 


Blitz! Serve immediately. Add a touch of maple syrup if you need to sweeten it a little bit more, in case your banana was not very ripe. Remember, the more ripe your banana is, the sweeter is your milkshake.
